Rei's getting closer to his goal! Yes he is a small, scraggly dragon doing his very best, and yes, he can shapeshift, to an extent (i love how much you're thinking about this). You're all great!
Also, as was asked, if you want to subscribe for updates, the RSS feed is at the end of the navigation bar (at the top of each comic page). Just note that you would need an addon for it to work in either Chrome or Safari. Alternatively, you can follow the official twitter here and turn on notifications since I only tweet VG related stuff there (like updates!).
